Information for Embarking & Disembarking Passengers

Getting to Liverpool Cruise Terminal

If you are arriving into Liverpool via rail, air, road or water – there are plenty of transport options available to get you to Liverpool Cruise Terminal.

Arrival by Road / Passenger Drop Off

  • The postcode for Satnav users is L3 1DL.
  • Leave the M6 at Junction 21a, and take the M62 towards Liverpool City Centre.
  • Follow the brown signs on the arterial routes for Liverpool and/or Waterfront until you reach The Liver Building.
  • The Liver Building is the ideal landmark as the Cruise Terminal is identifiable at this point.

Arrival by Taxi

  • There is a Taxi Rank adjacent to the Cruise Terminal on St Nicholas Place.
  • The rank operates for both drop off and collection.

Arrival by Rail

  • Lime Street Station is Liverpool’s mainline station with trains to and from Manchester, London, Scotland and the rest of the UK.
  • The Cruise Terminal is a 20-minute walk from Lime Street (see tourist information signs) or approximately 5 minutes by taxi.
  • National Rail Enquiries (08457 484 950) can assist with specific train timings.
  • Merseyrail operates an underground rail network, the closest station to Liverpool Cruise Terminal is James Street (around a 20 minute walk from the terminal).

Arrival by Air

  • There are many transport links available if you are intending to travel to the Cruise Terminal to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
  • A taxi will take approximately 20 minutes
  • Information on bus links from the airport

Embarkation Day

Passenger Arrival Times

  • You should arrive at your designated time, as advised by your cruise line.
  • Guests who arrive early will not be allowed to enter Liverpool Cruise Terminal check-in area and will be advised to return at their designated time.

Early arrivals

  • Please do not arrive early to Liverpool Cruise Terminal as you wont be given access to the check in area until your allocated time.  The Royal Albert Dock is a short walk from Liverpool Cruise Terminal should you wish to enjoy something to eat and drink.

Arriving by taxi or  being dropped off by a family friend

  • On arrival at Liverpool Cruise Terminal, you will be signposted by our Cruise Operations Team to the designated bag drop area before proceeding to check-in. Your baggage will be transferred separately to the ship, where it will be x-rayed and delivered to your cabin
  • This a ‘Kiss & Go’ zone, so drop off will be be swift  – there will be no waiting and no long goodbyes!

Passenger Facilities

  • There are no food and drink facilities available at Liverpool Cruise Terminal, you should therefore stop for refreshments/lunch/comfort breaks prior to arriving at your designated time.
  • There are numerous food and drink venues in nearby Royal Albert Dock which is just a short walk away from Liverpool Cruise Terminal. Here you can wander the shops, enjoy a relaxing coffee or tasty lunch, prior to arriving for your appointed time.

Passport Requirements

  • You must ensure you have a valid UK Passport with you at all times in order to present this at Check-in.

Long Stay Parking

For Fred Olsen Cruise Line guests the Long-Stay Car Park is managed offsite by Cruise & Passenger Services.

On the day of your cruise, please drive directly to our car park (L5 9UD), where you will be met by one of our Cruise and Passenger Services Representatives who will check your car in – we kindly ask you to remain in your car until this has been completed.

Once your vehicle has been checked in, you will be directed to the baggage drop off location, where your baggage will be taken from you and will be taken to your cabin by Porters.
You will be transported from our car park to Liverpool Cruise Terminal for check-in – where you are then able to board Borealis.

For those Guests that have booked ‘Assistance Parking’, we kindly request for you to drive directly to Liverpool Cruise Terminal (L3 1DL), where you will be met by one of our Cruise and Passenger Services Representatives.

Persons with restricted mobility

I am registered disabled, how will I get to the ship after I’ve checked -in?

  • There will be an adapted vehicle and mini buses available to transfer passengers who have pre-booked a wheelchair with your relevant cruise line.
  • Our Cruise Operations Team will be on hand to assist as required.

I can’t walk very far – will wheelchairs be available at Liverpool Cruise Terminal?

  • There will be a limited number of wheelchairs available at Liverpool Cruise Terminal which will be available for transfer from one location to another but these wheelchairs cannot remain with you.

Can I take my own wheelchair on the ship?

  • Wheelchairs are only permitted on board the ship if you have pre-booked these with your cruise line operator.


Disembarkation Day

Where will I disembark the ship?

  • You will disembark the ship at Liverpool Cruise Terminal, Pier Head, L3 1DL. Your baggage will be off-loaded from the ship prior to you disembarking and will be laid out, ready to be reclaimed by you in LCT’s Passenger Lounge.  Your cruise line will advise on board the order that passengers will disembark.

I’m being picked up by a family friend / private taxi – where should they wait for me?

  • The pick-up point is at Liverpool Cruise Terminal (L3 1Dl). There is no vehicle waiting area but there are plenty of ‘pay and display’ parking spaces in the vicinity as well as a multi-deck car park which all private taxis/friends/family will be directed to – normal charges will apply.
  • You should ensure you have all the necessary contact mobile numbers of your private taxi drivers and relatives so you can advise them once you have collected your luggage and you can arrange to meet up.

I can carry my own luggage off the ship  – can I take a taxi directly from the ship?

  • If you are happy to carry your own luggage off the ship and will be making your own way home in a Hackney cab or on public transport, then you can ‘Express Debark’ at Liverpool Cruise Terminal – there is a Taxi rank, directly adjacent to the Cruise Terminal and bus stops and train stations are very close by.

I can carry my own luggage off the ship  – can my private taxi/family friend pick me up directly from the ship?

  • No, there is no designated waiting area / pick-up point at Liverpool Cruise Terminal for private taxis/family friends to layover, as the area is being used for the cruise shuttle buses so you should therefore:
    • Arrange for your private taxi/ family friend to wait for you in a nearby designated car park and you can walk to meet them and their vehicle there.  The nearest car parks to Liverpool Cruise Terminal are:
      • Crowne Plaza Hotel: 2 St Nicholas Place, Liverpool L3 1QW
      • William Jessop Way multi storey car park:  4 William Jessop Way, Liverpool L3 1DL
