A splendid start to Cruise Liverpool’s 2013 season…

If the last two weeks are anything to go by Liverpool Cruise Terminal is in for a busy summer season!

The fortnight started in earnest with successful turnaround calls from both Boudicca and Discovery – A fond farewell to our good friends at Cruise & Maritime – see you in 2014!

Despite the 03.00 arrival time, hundreds of spectators gathered shore side to welcome back QM2 in all her splendour. Throughout the day approximately 15,000 people headed to the waterfront to welcome her. Cunard operated a successful split voyage with a proportion of passengers embarking and disembarking via their spiritual home of Liverpool. It has just been announced that Queen Elizabeth will also operate a split voyage when she calls on August 6th.

Celebrity Infinity made her inaugural call to Liverpool as part of its first European itinerary. A Plaque Exchange took place on board between the Lord Mayor of Liverpool and the Captain where he was presented with a small sculpture of a Liver Bird, the symbol of the city. We look forward to welcoming Infinity back for a further 9 calls during 2013-2014 including an overnight stay in July 2014 to coincide with The British Open Championship being held at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Over 10,000 passengers and crew passed through Liverpool Cruise Terminal this week alone but the busiest time is still to come as three special consecutive maritime weekends are set to bring the Liverpool waterfront alive this summer.
