Maritime Liverpool to host Telegraph’s first regional Cruise Show

Maritime Liverpool, the city in which the first passenger cruise ship departed, is to host the Telegraph’s first regional Cruise Show.

The event follows the successful launch of the Telegraph Cruise Show in London at the start of the year and will take place at the Echo Arena on October 11 and 12 of this year.

Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage waterfront and Liverpool Cruise Terminal make a perfect back-drop for the show, which will be officially opened by the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson.

Mayor Anderson said: “I am delighted that Liverpool has been selected by the Telegraph as the host city for the very first regional cruise show. Liverpool is renowned for its strong maritime history, and we proudly continue to play an integral role in today’s cruise industry. The cruise sector is hugely important to Liverpool, and it is no exaggeration to say the cruise liner terminal has reinvented the city. When it opened in 2007 three cruise ships came to the city. This year we will welcome more than 50.”

The Telegraph Cruise Show Liverpool will follow the format of the London show and again feature a stellar line-up of celebrity speakers alongside Telegraph Travel journalists and cruise line representatives.

Teresa Machan, the Telegraph’s cruise editor, said: “Some of our best cruise writers are looking forward to speaking at the show about everything from the newest ships to the issues facing the industry at the moment.”

Angus Struthers, director at Cunard, said: “Liverpool was Cunard’s home for 127 years so the opportunity to be part of a dedicated cruise show that will evoke such strong memories of our history is a really exciting prospect.”

Visitors to the show will be able to meet the representatives of leading cruise lines, seek advice on the most desirable destinations and gain insights into shore excursions and life on board ship, as well as discovering the latest itineraries and offers.

Kieron Summerhayes, cruise show director for Telegraph Media Group, said: “We were very pleased with the show experience we created in London and look forward to bringing this to Liverpool.

“We will again deliver an interactive, engaging visitor experience with high-level talks and feature areas, including tours of the Liverpool Cruise Terminal and a ship visit – ideal for our new-to-cruise visitors, and offering a real insight into the cruise experience.”
