Liverpool on the Waterfront

The Liverpool ‘On The Waterfront’ programme, is free to the public and started on 24 May with the city hosting the 70th and final national anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Atlantic on May 24. Twenty five warships were berthed at the Cruise Terminal, Albert and Canning Docks, with many open to visitors.

These vessels represented both sides of the conflict with ships from the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Russia and the US. All ships departed with a Parade of Sail on Tuesday May 28. It is estimated over 600,000 spectators enjoyed the various maritime activities taking place throughout the waterfront area.

The following weekend, May 31-June 2, will mark 25 years since the reopening of the regenerated Albert Dock complex.

The final weekend sees the return of the ‘Music on the Waterfront’ weekend, June 7-9, with live concerts on the outdoor stage in front of the Royal Liver Building. This weekend will also see the return of the Mersey River Festival with tall ships, historic vessels, street theatre and shanty music.
